Going into spring drills, King has to be the favorite, with Johnson and Weigman following.
If the three are in a tight race going into September, King will get the nod. His running ability will give him the edge over Johnson. And Fisher will not start a true freshman unless that true freshman is significantly better than the others, so Weigman's odds are lower.
People are quick to point out Johnson's few interceptions. But if you watch much film, that is more by luck than by skill. He threw some balls up that by all rights should have been picked off but were not. {Sometimes better to be lucky than good...} He did not show good judgement too many times and held onto the ball too long. Up to this point, Johnson has shown himself to be a solid QB. But not a great QB.
